Kanye, who recently turned to a born again Christian, released a gospel album-Jesus is King, and has been going on his weekly Sunday Service program preaching about the gospel of Jesus using music announced that’s will be attending ‘Awaken2020’ a huge evangelical prayer rally taking place in a Tempe, Arizona, football stadium which accommodates 50,000 people.
Kanye’s decision to feature alongside the high profile anti-gay pastors comes a month after Kanye paid tribute to the American restaurant chain ‘Chick- fil- a’ (infamously known for being anti-gay)in his new song/video, ‘closed on Sundays’.
The event’s website says it will be “time for you to be part of the Jesus awakening that is shifting HISTORY. Open the door and enter into a new era, a new decade, of revival that is bringing a movement of signs and wonders, healing of the sick, and preaching of the gospel.”
One of the pastors headlining the event, Ché Ahn, is the leader of H Rock Church and once said ‘The church believes that marriage is between one man and one woman”, and runs a ministry for healing “sexual and relational issues that ensnare Christians into unhealthy living” like “gender identity issues” and “same-sex attraction”.
Another speaker at the event, Lou Engle, once protested same-sex marriage and abortion saying he had dreams about America being destroyed because of it.
‘We received a dream in which twin tornadoes had come to destroy America.
“Each tornado had the letters ‘HA HA’ written across it. We knew that the ‘H’ stood for homosexuality and the ‘A’ for abortion. These principalities were mocking spirits that had to be overcome in order to turn the nation.”
Twitter users, even fans of Kanye didn’t take the news likely, with some suggesting they will boycott him while some said his career was dead.
Some even went as far as digging out old pictures of Kanye wearing skinny jeans and pink polo, while also posting an old video where he criticized anti-gay people.
