Fintiri Defects to APC, Moves Adamawa PDP Structure to Ruling Party

Fintiri to APC

Yola, Nigeria — Ahmadu Fintiri, governor of Adamawa State, has announced his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party to the ruling All Progressives Congress, in a move expected to reshape the political dynamics of the state.

The governor disclosed the decision during a statewide broadcast on Friday, stating that he defected alongside members of his cabinet and key party officials across Adamawa.

Fintiri explained that the switch was motivated by what he described as the “developmental interest” of Adamawa residents, adding that alignment with the Federal Government would enhance opportunities for infrastructure growth, economic expansion, and improved governance outcomes.

The defection comes amid a wave of political realignments nationwide. Recent reports indicate that Agbu Kefas of Taraba State, as well as governors Abba Yusuf and Caleb Muftwang, have also moved to the APC.

Political analysts say the development could significantly strengthen the ruling party’s foothold in northern Nigeria while intensifying strategic repositioning ahead of future electoral contests.
