Two rockets hit Iraq capital’s green zone

24 hours after Iran fired ballistic missiles at bases housing U.S forces, two rockets crashed late Wednesday into the Iraqi capital’s Green Zone, the high-security enclave where foreign embassies including the US mission, as tensions between the US and Iran remained high.

The attack pointed to lingering hostilities even as Washington and Tehran appeared to step back from a direct confrontation following a US drone strike that killed top Iranian general Qassem Soleimani and Iraqi commander Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis last week.
